Capacity Over Capability — A Note from Moving Week

By Lori Finlay, NP, CNS

I am going to keep this one short.

Not because I do not have things to say. Trust me. I always have things to say. The passion is absolutely there. The capability is there.

But the capacity? This week? Not so much. And I am laughing about it — because honestly, what else can you do?

Here is my life right now:

For two weeks we have been packing up and making small loads in the SUV and Scott’s truck — back and forth, back and forth. And this Saturday the big moving truck arrives for the rest. It is not glamorous. It is a little chaotic. And I would not trade it because this home is exactly what we wanted and we are so excited.

I am also driving between two homes — 35 minutes each way on a good traffic day. Hunting down my mail key at the post office. Coordinating move-in cleaning. And staying patient — mostly — with a tile team that was supposed to start three weeks ago. Still waiting.

Thursday my KonMarie consultant and her team are coming and I cannot wait. I have worked with them before and they are fast, brilliant, and they make order out of chaos in a way that genuinely brings me joy.

And in between all of it? I have been sneaking in my favorite part. Puttering in the kitchen. Arranging the bookshelves. Deciding where things live.

Oh — and our brand new Sunlighten Sauna arrives this week. A state of the art five-person sauna. Because my six-foot-four tall, dark and handsome husband needs the room. And because a biohacker has to have her priorities straight, even during moving week.

And honestly, the sauna is just one piece of what we have been intentional about in this home. We have optimized our indoor air quality, put in a whole-home water filtration system — plus additional filtration specifically for our drinking water and showers (chloramines are no joke) — and are putting measures in place to limit EMF exposure throughout the house. Because your home environment is either working for your health or against it. And after everything I have learned about toxin load and the body, there was no way I was moving into a new space without thinking it through.

If you want specifics on the brands I researched and chose — hit reply with the word “Home” and I will send you the details.

But here is what I know — and what I counsel women on every single day.

Capability and capacity are not the same thing.

I am fully capable of writing a long clinical blog this week. A deep dive. A supplement breakdown. A full conference recap from the Biohacking Conference — which was extraordinary and I have SO much to share.

But my capacity this week is a moving truck, subcontractors on their own timeline, and puttering in my new kitchen deciding where the gadgets go.

So, I am doing what I tell you to do. Floors not ceilings. Show up — but do not burn yourself down doing it.

If your capacity right now does not match your passion — you are in good company. This is not falling behind. This is wisdom.

More when I dig out and get settled. I will be sharing the highlights from the Beyond Biohacking Conference — the ones that genuinely moved the needle for me.

But right now? I have boxes with my name on them.

For the women who refuse to let their lifespan outrun their vitality span,
