Earlier in July, I married the love of my life. Our wedding day was near perfect—even the weather surprised us by dropping 10 degrees from the rest of the week! Surrounded by dear family and friends from across the country, it truly felt divine and magical.
Then, we flew to Maui for our honeymoon. Think: beaches, naps, waves, good books, a sunset luau, and a thrilling 27-foot monohull sailing adventure in 20-knot winds.
But there’s something deeper I want to share—something personal, raw, and real.
When I got married at age 40, I had no idea I was in perimenopause. No one had warned me.
Sex was painful. My body felt foreign. And while the emotional connection with my partner was strong, the physical intimacy was… well, not what I had hoped for.
(TMI? Maybe. But I share it because too many women silently suffer—and I want you to know you’re not alone.)
Fast forward to today. At age 65, I just had a honeymoon that was spectacular on every level—including physical pleasure, deep connection, and joy in my fully healed, vibrant body.
