Each year, as the days grow longer and the air fills with the scent of fresh blooms, something shifts—not just in nature, but in us too. Just like we instinctively declutter our closets and open the windows for a good Spring clean, our bodies start craving the same. There’s actually a biological and seasonal reason Spring is the perfect time for a cleanse.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Spring is associated with the liver and gallbladder—two key organs involved in detoxification. The idea is that just as nature is waking up from Winter, so too is our body, and it’s primed to release what’s been stored. Modern science backs this up more than you might think. Research shows that our bodies undergo seasonal changes in hormone levels, immune activity, and even gene expression. These fluctuations can affect how we metabolize food, store fat, and eliminate toxins.
After a Winter of heavier foods, less movement, and minimal sunlight, it’s common for the liver and digestive system to feel sluggish. Spring offers more daylight, which naturally boosts our circadian rhythm and energy levels—creating the ideal conditions for a reset.

Spring is the season of bitters. Bitter greens like arugula, endive, and dandelion not only support digestion but also stimulate bile flow—key for breaking down fats and flushing toxins.
