If you feel wired, tired, or emotionally on edge right now, it’s not because you’re doing something wrong.

It’s because your nervous system has been under sustained pressure.

The holidays ask a lot of women — mentally, emotionally, and energetically. And for high-achieving women especially, stress doesn’t just stay in the mind. It shows up in the body. It also shows up in your hormone balance and lab testing.

When your nervous system stays activated, your adrenals work overtime.

When your adrenals are stressed, hormones struggle to find balance.

That’s why slowing down — even briefly — isn’t indulgent. It’s essential.

The good news?

You don’t need an hour, a retreat, or a perfect routine.

You need moments of safety; moments of peace.

Here are a few simple nervous system resets you can do anywhere — in just a few minutes.

1. Deep, slow breathing

This is the fastest way to signal safety to your body.

Try this:

  • Repeat for 1–2 minutes
  • Inhale through your nose for 4
  • Exhale slowly through your mouth for 6

Longer exhales tell your nervous system: “You’re safe now.”

BTW- I know you know this. Yet often, we need a gentle reminder. At one point of really high stress in my life I had to create a SOS list to remind me to do these simple tools.

2. Orienting

This helps your body come out of stress and back into the present moment.

Pause and gently look around.

Name (silently or out loud):

  • 3 things you can see
  • 2 things you can hear
  • 1 thing you can feel in your body

This grounds you in now — not the to-do list.

3. Gentle tapping

Tapping (also called EFT for Emotional Freedom Technique) helps calm the stress response by stimulating acupressure points.

If tapping feels unfamiliar, that’s okay. I’ll be sharing a guided video soon so you can experience it easily, without needing to “do it right.”

I want to share something personal with you.

I had to learn these tools for myself — healing from complex PTSD and learning how to calm a highly sensitive nervous system. What I discovered is this:

Nervous system regulation is not optional for hormone balance. It’s foundational.

Especially for high-achieving women.

As we move toward the New Year, I’ll be sharing deeper tools, guided practices, and support to help you restore true vitality — from the inside out.

For now, let this be enough:

One breath.

One pause.

One moment of safety.

That’s how healing begins.

Here’s to healthy hormone balance and nervous system balance during the holiday weeks,

Warmly,

Lori
